Aloha kakou,
Pehea'oe? Maika'i au! I hope your adventure watching the eclipse yesterday was fun. I was inside eating a cheeseburger when it all went down. I was hoping it would go really dark here during the event, but it didn't. I guess I should have driven to Idaho Falls. Hopefully the rest of these dog days or summer will be as fun as yesterday. How about we keep it going with a jam?

Come To The Aloha Music Camp With Pirate Jim in 2018!
In June of 2007 I attended the Aloha Music Camp for the first time. I had never played an ukulele before and was curious about Hawaiian music and Hula, but I was not expecting the influence it would have on my life from that time forward.
https://alohamusiccamp.org/
As a child I would come to the islands every year for 2-3 weeks with my parents. I never realized the sights, sounds, smells and feelings Hawaii gave me would stay with me subconsciously over the years. Since that first camp I have been back to camp every year and have learned a lot about Hawaiian culture, music and dance. It has become a big part of how I now live life. The spirit of aloha has fully influenced my life.
This year's camp is sold out and the 2018 will also sell out quickly, but I want you all to come with me. When registration opens up for 2018 I will let you know immediately so we can get as many of us signed up as possible... if we get enough of us going we'll get a discount. Keep you ear to the ground and listen for my cue!
Well my friends that is all for this week.... see you tonight!

My doctor orders me to get together my friends and family tonight and strum on a four string instrument (you heard right, Stanis is back tonight! Woot Woot!).

Pehea'oe? How are you? Maika'i? Good? Well I'm on top of the world this week because my beloved Calgary Stampeders won the Western Final and punched their ticket to the Grey Cup (Canada's version of the Superbowl for all my non-CFL watching ohana). Go Stamps Go!
Tonight's Kanikapila
Unfortunately Stanis and I can not make the jam this week, but do not fear! The jam will be lead tonight by my good friend and long time club member Barb Yates. I will be running through my piece in Dance Montage 2016 at the tech rehearsal tonight, but I will be thinking about you all and strumming from the University Theatre. It's a tech rehearsal so I may be out long after you finish jamming. :(
